There were login issues with the MUD between around 12:05 and 12:29 UTC. The admins fixed the issues.

The server was hanging after reaching 100% CPU usage somewhere between 23:30 and 23:59 UTC on August 29th. A hard reboot seems to have resolved the issue.

During server maintenance that ordinarily should not cause problems, the VM running VikingMUD froze completely and
needed a reset. The MUD was back up at 19:56 UTC. Sorry for the problem!
The MUD is back up. Some system services are not yet ready, I will look into those tomorrow.
This is a completely new VM (but on the same hardware), and I am working to import the configuration from the old VM so that we can be back up as soon as possible.
Things did not work out as planned, due to severe problems with the boot area of the virtual machine. Several hours of work remain.
During today's regular reboot, I'll reboot the server as well. Please allow for some additional minutes of downtime.

Today, we'll move VikingMUD to a new server.
This requires a longer downtime than usual, approximately 45-60 minutes.
The MUD will be shut down at 10:30 UTC (11:30 CET), and back up again between 11:15 and 11:30 UTC (12:15 and 12:30 CET) unless there are unforeseen problems.
We had a short-notice reboot today to see if a newer Linux kernel might fix some in-MUD performance and lag issues. The MUD was down for longer than expected, from 12:45 UTC until 13:13 UTC.
The reboot went fine and the MUD was quickly back up again, although with some in-MUD lag that clever people are investigating.
The server will reboot for security upgrades during regular MUD reboot today. This adds 3-20 minutes downtime, the MUD is expected back up between 08:35 and 08:55 UTC.
