I bungled it again, sorry! The MUD was down from 06:03 UTC to 09:27 UTC.
The good news is that the server has been migrated to new hardware, which should be more reliable. The old hardware was getting unreliable, and based on experience with other servers of the same age, it should have failed in 2015. ;) The new hardware has a few more years left in it. :)
But again, sorry! There shouldn't have been any downtime today, the migration was planned for a later date.
A mishap during live VM host upgrades resulted in a VM guest crash. This should not have happened. Sorry!
The system upgrade was completed early, and the MUD has been back up since 11:39 UTC.
The reboot happens at 11:00 UTC today, a 3-hour warning has been issued in-MUD.
There will be a reboot next week, either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, for a system upgrade. The upgrade will be attempted timed to a regular in-MUD reboot, but if that cannot be avoided, there will be given a few hours in-MUD advance warning. Expected downtime is a few hours.
The reboot seems to have worked out nicely.
There will be a brief system reboot to ensure that some system updates are in place, from around 14:40 until around 15:10 UTC.
